Before making the decision to have cosmetic surgery, you should investigate the total cost of your desired procedure. Insurance coverage will vary for each cosmetic surgery and insurance company policies will also differ. It is important to consider the financial aspects of surgery before making the decision. Knowing the covered costs by your insurance policy; as well as for which surgeries they will pay, will help you determine whether you can financially afford cosmetic surgery.

The American Medical Association as well as the American Society of Plastic Surgeons both provide guidelines to insurance companies. These guidelines are used to set the guidelines covering each surgery. Each insurance company then takes these guidelines to use them in order to interpret whether they will pay for the specific requested cosmetic surgery. This differs from one insurance company to another and potentially from one type of policy to another. If you have an abnormality that needs correcting, the majority of insurance companies will cover all or some part of the surgery. Additionally, if surgery will result in an improvement in your mental health, the insurance company might cover it.

Guidelines can help an insurance company decide if abdominal surgery or liposuction will be performed with the goal of improving a person’s health, or if it is desired for strictly cosmetic purposes. If you are considered obese and have back pain, or other related problems and it is indicated that abdominal surgery will eliminate those problems, such surgery may be covered. Breast surgery in generally covered by insurance policies if the breasts are causing pain, are asymmetrical, or if you have lost a breast as a result of cancer or another surgery.

If you are seeking surgery on some area of your face, the desired surgery generally needs to be related to some medical problem in that area. If the area causing you concern relates to birth defects, your surgery may be covered by insurance. The insurance carrier may approve payment for an imbalance in the face, abnormal functioning of the facial area, and vision problems. If the structure of your nose is interfering with your ability to breathe, rhinoplasty may also be covered by insurance.

Typically, cosmetic surgery costs a minimum $2,000, with $5,000 being considered average, and some surgeries cost greater than $10,000. The surgery cost will depend on how complicated your surgery is. If you are unable to pay the cost of the surgery, but your doctor’s opinion is that it will improve your health, your insurance company may still approve payment. Finding a company that has policies that meet your cosmetic surgery needs, can help you to make the necessary changes to your body. Consulting your doctor prior to contacting the insurance company will help both of you to prepare for questions the company may pose.

All retirees pray that they will have enough cash to see them comfortably through their retirement years. The alternative is obviously more ominous – that they will outlive the comfort of their savings. The truth that most baby boomers have yet to comprehend that even through they will have their parents savings and life insurance plans to live off of we are living longer. Baby boomers will need to carry themselves on their retirement savings many times longer than life span that actuaries used in their precious calculations.

The magic retirement age of 65 was historically chosen not arbitrarily by the German Kaiser in the introduction of the first pension plans as this at the time was the average life span of most male workers. As most baby boomers know and anticipate modern medicine and conveniences have pushed that envelope. You may like it or not before your retirement savings anticipated a 10 year payout period. Now it may be closer to 25 to 30 years.

The thought of having to lower their standards of living and giving up some luxuries to make end meet is for many people, the most worrying aspect of their leisure years. Often, though, the imagined fears are exaggerated. It is often said that 99 % of the things you fear will never come to pass. But why chance it. The basic rule is that by not planning and leaving things to the last moment severely limits your options and causes unnecessary stress and worry.

The good news is that those who planned their finances carefully during their working years will adjust with ease, and their retirement years can be the most enjoyable years of their existence.

Part of the secret knows to manage one’s savings in retirement. Basically today’s workers are looking at two choices. They can work longer so that they can spend more or they can retire sooner and spend less. Another option is to do a bit of both and reduce your workload and in effect semi-retire. By planning ahead you may well have more than one option.

Taking early retirement before your pension begins offers a number of options. You can downsize your house to free up some of your tax free holdings – and live on that pool of cash. This is especially a valuable option now with low interest rates drive large increases in the value of real estate and as well creating a frenzy of buyers willing to snap up your property. If the retiree has profited from company stock options they can use these to bridge them over until the time their company pension plan kicks in. Or they can withdraw from their 401k plans if allowed or withdraw from their savings.

Managing one’s investments does not stop at retirement. Individual income, needs and expenditures will vary, but when liquidating investments a tax efficiency strategy will conserve more of your hard earned investment dollars.

If you are not to be dictated by your tax bracket you should keep foremost in your mind when you are trying to figure out strategies. The goal is not how much you make; it is how you much you keep. The same of course is true when cashing in investment vehicles. You always have to be conscious of the tax consequences.

Much of retirement planning strategy depends on the difference between the two tax brackets at the time if investing during your tax earning years compared to your tax bracket during withdrawal in your retirement years.

Remember those that those that fail to plan ahead will plan to fail.

Ayurveda is an ancient and holistic system of medicine, which originated in India more than five thousand years ago. The word Ayu means life (span) and Veda means knowledge i.e. knowledge of life or the science of life. One of the basic tenets of Ayurveda is that life is meant to be lived in balance and in harmony with nature. Illness happens when we move away from a life of balance to excesses or deficiencies of any kind, whether it is the way we eat, sleep, work, exercise, think or feel. Ayurveda believes that one has to live in harmony with the seasons, the time of day, the place you live etc.

According to Ayurveda, people are divided into different body types and if you follow the diet, purification routines, exercises, etc. specific for your body type you can correct many of the problems you may be suffering from.
Ayurveda places a great deal of emphasis on the mind. According to Ayurveda many of our physical problems and imbalances are first created in the mind. Unlike western medicine, which has divorced the mind from the body, Ayurveda says they are seamlessly connected and each affects the other. The place where the mind and the body connect is the place where matter interfaces with energy.

The three Doshas of Ayurveda:
According to Ayurveda, the doshas lie at the place where the mind connects with the body. If the mind and the body are not coordinated, an imbalance is created in the Doshas.
There are three Doshas and they are as follows:
1. Vata corresponds to Air.
2. Pitta corresponds to fire.
3. Kapha corresponds to water.

Each and every person has all the three doshas or principles to varying degrees, but usually one or other is dominant. i.e. if you are a Vata type then the Vata principle is dominant. This is important because your body type governs how you should live and what you should eat to maintain a life of balance.

Vata Dosha:
Corresponds to air, ether.
Function is movement, breathing, and circulation.
Emotions are fear, anxiety, and pain.
Seat of Vata is in the colon, pelvis etc.
The Vata constitution is thin, tall or too short, bony joints, thin eyelashes, sunken eyes, bent nose, variable appetite, tends to constipation, poor sleep, creative, restless, alert, poor willpower and tolerance. Cold hands and feet.

Pitta Dosha
Corresponds to fire and water.
Function is metabolism, digestion, absorption and assimilation.
Emotions are anger, hatred and jealousy.
Seat of Pitta is stomach, small intestine and blood.
Pitta Constitution is medium build, premature graying, medium sleep, warm hands and feet, short tempered, intelligent and ambitious.

Kapha Dosha
Corresponds to water and the earth.
Function is that of cementing material of the body, connective tissue, joint lubrication, and memory retention.
Emotions are greed, attachment, envy, forgiveness, calmness and maternal emotions.
Seat of Kapha is chest, sinuses, ears, nose, throat area, joints etc.
Kapha constitution is solid build, slow, deliberate, good strength and endurance, prolonged sleep, obese, calm, forgiving, loving, greedy and possessive. They are slow to grasp information but once they do they retain it i.e. good memory retention.

According to Ayurveda, the imbalance or disease may originate in the mind in the form of some negative emotion, which affects the doshas, and in turn the body or, it may originate in the body and then affect the mind. Diet and environment are the key causes here affecting the doshas, which in turn can affect the mind. We saw earlier that Vata is connected to fear and anxiety, Pitta to hate and jealousy and Kapha to greed and possessiveness.

Western medical science has not recognized the importance of the relationship between the immune system and the gut. Only now are some people beginning to recognize and label the “leaky gut syndrome” as being the cause of many diseases. Ayurveda recognized this connection five thousand years ago when it talked about disease being caused by accumulation of toxins or “ama” as a result of impairment of the “Agni” (the process of digestion and assimilation). If the agni does not function properly, then the ama accumulates in the intestines and leaks into the circulation and subsequently accumulates in other parts of the body clogging them, impairing their resistance and immunity and causing disease of that organ.

Imbalanced emotions also cause disease by impairing the agni and therefore the immune system. In the Bhagwad Gita, the Lord tells Arjuna that He Himself has become the digestive fire or Agni in the human body, serving to illustrate the importance of agni. I.e. it is the Lord’s energy, which is powering the digestive system and thus all the metabolic processes and also strengthening the immune system. Disrespect of your digestive fire by eating the wrong foods or an imbalanced lifestyle is disrespecting the Lord within you and inviting disease.

The Ayurvedic physician usually performs a detailed history and physical examination. The examination includes but is not limited to pulse diagnosis, examination of the tongue, facial diagnosis including the lines and wrinkles of your face, your lips, eyes. Examination of the nails and hair, examination of the urine, feces, sweat etc. examination of the mind and emotions. He may also check your astrological chart as this may predict disease proneness. Modern medicine treats the body as though it is a machine with various parts and each part is treated by a different specialist. The problem with a machine is that you can repair it with spare parts. The human body on the other hand functions as a whole. An Ayurvedic physician tries to assist the body in its attempt to repair itself.

Treatment in Ayurveda consists of: Panchakarma (purification or cleansing of the body), herbs, yoga, mantras, gemstones, color therapy, sound therapy using classical ragas, dietary manipulation to balance the doshas, fasting, meditation etc. Treatment is individualized to the person and not the disease. Whereas in allopathic medicine, two patients with arthritis will usually get the same treatment, its not so in Ayurveda.

Panchakarma is employed to eliminate toxins from the body. Massages using oil and herbs, enemas, nasal purgation and induced vomiting are some of the methods used. I remember as a child being taken by my parents for treatment to a local Ayurveda center and the doctors there would make me drink tons of water then come up from behind and press my upper abdomen and all the water would come out. Although disconcerting at first, I did feel really cleaned out afterwards. However, do not try this at home. It can only be done under the supervision of an Ayurvedic physician. Oil or water enemas are used depending on the imbalance present. I would not recommend getting treatment from someone who has taken a two month crash course in Ayurveda. These people can do more harm than good. The idea behind panchakarma is to open the channels and begin getting rid of the accumulated toxins. It can be very effective in getting rid of the chemicals that we are polluting our bodies (and our planet) with, in our so-called modern society.

In Ayurveda, the underlying philosophy is a reverence for all life. Therefore herbs are grown, cultivated and harvested with respect, reverence and purity in mind with the result that the healing effects of such herbs are powerful and in tune with nature. Remember the four sheaths that cover the soul. According to Ayurveda each sheath can be healed with different methods. The physical body can be healed by a vata, pitta or kapha pacifying diet, herbal treatment and yogic exercises. The astral body by the use of herbs, pranayama, color, sound, gemstones magnets (and homeopathy works at this level also). Mantras and meditation reach the causal body.

The needs of people in retirement or about to retiree are different than those of baby boomers. Yet all you see in articles is advice for baby boomers on how to prepare for retirement. What about help for those age 60+ who have already cashed in their chips or about to do so?

Good news. There has been increased education, albeit slowly, for financial advisors to help people in retirement. But be careful about the several designations you may see.

The most widely held senior designation, Certified Senior Advisor (CSA) is not a financial training at all. Although many financial professionals gain this designation, so do nurses, gerontologists, funeral home directors and others dealing with older people. The designation is really a training in communication skills and issues of aging and not in financial issues.

The Certified Retirement Financial Advisor designation (CRFA) is ONLY for financial professionals that have at least 2 years experience in financial services. The enrollees seek to polish their retiree-specific financial knowledge and the course covers every aspect of financial concerns to someone in their retirement years: how to avoid tax on social security income, how to liquidate assets for the lowest or zero capital gains tax, how to utilize section 72 rules for early retirees who need to tap their retirement funds before age 59 ½, IRS sections 1035 and 1031 exchanges for tax deferral, Roth IRA conversions, how to minimize taxes on IRA distributions, how to build retiree portfolios for greater secure income, how to create low risk equity portfolios, training in estate planning and asset protection, long term care planning and related tax issues, trusts, advance directives, integration of your retirement plan and estate plan, asset titling issues, beneficiary selection for retirement accounts and other assets. Fifteen hours of continuing education is required annually to maintain the designation.

The other legitimate designation is Chartered Advisor for Senior Living (CASL). However, of the 5 courses that graduates must complete, 2 of them are general and not retiree specific. Fifteen hours of continuing education is required every 2 years to maintain the designation.

Be cautious of any other designations held by a financial advisor who contends that the designation has prepared him to give appropriate financial advice for people in retirement. There are several designations that have no substance and are programs designed to make a financial sales person look like a professional.

Here are some simple questions you can ask a retirement planner. If the professional cannot answer them easily, then move on:

How can IRS section 1031 help me (it helps people divest real estate without current taxation)

What is the lowest possible rate on capital gains that I could possibly qualify for (5% currently, 0% starting in 2008)

Can anyone convert their IRA to a Roth IRA (their modified adjusted gross income must be under $100,000 currently)

If I want to leave my IRA to my 3 children, do I need to split it into 3 accounts (no, the children can split the IRA after your death into 3 accounts)

Will a living trust help me save taxes (no—the benefits of a living trust that cannot be accomplished otherwise is the avoidance of probate and privacy)

What’s the difference between an annuitant driven and owner driven annuity (all annuities are owner driven—if the owner dies, the owners beneficiary gets the proceeds)

Can I lose money with an equity indexed annuity (yes, if you withdraw funds during the surrender period, the surrender charge could be larger than anything you have earned resulting in a loss)

Why shouldn’t I put my sons name on my accounts as joint tenant so he inherits them directly if I die (you can be deemed to have given a gift which may have tax consequences and you have exposed jointly held assets to your son’s creditors).

Retirement may be a long way off for you , or it might be right around the corner. No matter how near or far it is, you’ve absolutely got to start saving for it now.

However, saving for retirement isn’t what it used to be with the increase in cost of living and the instability of social security. You have to invest for your retirement, as opposed to saving for it!

Let’s start by taking a look at the retirement plan offered by your company. Once upon a time, these plans were quite sound.

However, after the Enron upset and all that followed, people aren’t as secure in their company retirement plans anymore. If you choose not to invest in your company’s retirement plan, you do have other options.

First, you can invest in stocks, bonds, mutual funds, certificates of deposit, and money market accounts. You do not have to state to anybody that the returns on these investments are to be used for retirement. Just simply let your money grow overtime, and when certain investments reach their maturity, reinvest them and continue to let your money grow.

You can also open an Individual retirement Account (IRA). IRA’s are quite popular because the money is not taxed until you withdraw the funds. You may also be able to deduct your IRA contributions from the taxes that you owe. An IRA can be opened at most banks.

A ROTH IRA is a newer type of retirement account. With a Roth, you pay taxes on the money that you are investing in your account, but when you cash out, no federal taxes are owed. Roth IRA’s can also be opened at a financial institution.

Another popular type of retirement account is the 401(k). 401(k’s) are typically offered through employers, but you may be able to open a 401(k) on your own. You should speak with a financial planner or accountant to help you with this.

The Keogh plan is another type of IRA that is suitable for self employed people. Self-employed small business owners may also be interested in Simplified Employee Pension Plans (SEP). This is another type of Keogh plan that people typically find easier to administer than a regular Keogh plan.

Whichever retirement investment you choose, just make sure you choose one! Again, do not depend on social security, company retirement plans, or even an inheritance that may or may not come through! Take care of your financial future by investing in it today.

What can you do about this? If you suspect you are one of the many people who may be sensitive to dietary gluten some simple dietary changes can start you on the road to recovery. You can do an Internet search for more complete information but here are some steps you can take including foods that you can avoid.

Do not eat any foods that contain wheat, rye, or barley. For many people this will seem an impossible task since bread makes up such a large part of our diets. It is not just bread that contains glutens but grains are processed and used in many other processed food items. For example, soy sauce contains wheat. Food stabilizers, found in many of the processed foods we eat, contain glutens, as do many types of flavorings and emulsifiers. The simple version, so you don’t become neurotic, is to stop eating bread.

What should you eat? There are some grains that are 100% gluten free and safe to eat. For example, brown rice, quinoa (also very high in protein) as well as buckwheat. Eating some of these foods will require you to reeducate your taste buds but it can be done! Also, vegetables and fruits are safe and should be eaten in abundance no matter which diet you are on.

Is this going to be simple? Nope, it will not. But with a sense of definiteness of purpose, a desire to lose weight and improve your general state of health, and some persistence, I know you can do it! Happy Gluten Free living!

Maybe it’s just me, or maybe it’s my relatives?, either way I don’t fit into peoples concept of a 21st century individual. Wanting more technology to do things I normally do myself doesn’t interest me – even if it makes life easier, except maybe when I’m too old to get out of bed without the aid of a hoist.

I like technology, I simply choose to incorporate a very limited amount of it in my life, like the computer, it’s great as far as communicating and exchanging ideas etc., but, do I really need a refrigerator that’s networked with my computer to share my internet connection should I feel the need to talk to my frig?… no. A quick scan of the frig in the morning when I reach for the half and half and I know what I have and might need.

Making what should be easy and simple into a complicated multistep process – that is my definition of technology for the consumer. When they said, “Build a better mouse trap and the world will beat a path to your doorway” they were right, but, what happens when you’ve built the best mousetrap? you’ve streamlined it and refined it to perfection, now what? you complicate it of course. You add bells and whistles then lastly, the “ultimate”, you give it a brain – an onboard computer to perform the simplest of tasks, we have now reached TECHNOLOGICAL UTOPIA. The gadget people will love you.

So, when I was accused of being a “Luddite” recently, I couldn’t entirely disagree with them, but, I would call it selective luddism. Growth, whether it is intellectual or technological, is necessary if a society is to remain viable, vital, intact. Every society that existed and failed did so because of natural disater, conquest or stagnation, so I’m all for progress, so long as I’m free to persue my life of, consiously sought, simplicity. Notice I said progress not development, that is a whole other story.

Those who cannot learn from history are doomed to repeat it. – George Santayana. The Philosopher had it right, truer words have never been spoken. If you forget where you’ve come from or the “simple” elements that have been built upon to get you where you’re at, you are doomed to failure. How are you going to fix a complex piece of machinery without knowing the basics – you’re not – you’re going to have to reinvent the wheel.

Give me a shovel and some dirt to dig in and I’m a happy man, did I say I liked simple? that goes for simple pleasures also; usually the least complicated and simplest things are the purest and longest lasting. My case for Homesteading.

Market surveys show that many people don’t take out travel insurance as they believe that their credit card accident cover, home insurance, or private health cover is sufficient. However, it is unlikely that these will give adequate cover whilst abroad. You should be aware that the costs of an emergency abroad are high. A medical evacuation to the United Kingdom, for example, will cost you tens of thousands of pounds, so getting proper insurance is vital.

Shop around and get a few quotes before agreeing on which insurance to take out. Bear in mind though that a cheaper policy may have less cover. If you make several trips each year, even if in the UK, consider taking out annual multi-trip insurance to save time, money and effort.

When looking for travel insurance you should always read the full policy terms and conditions before entering into an agreement. Although the sales pitch or summary may sound adequate you may find that you are not covered in certain circumstances and in the case of pre-existing medical conditions. Other examples could include injury or death through acts of terrorism or nature, accidents caused through drinking alcohol and engaging in dangerous sports (and the list of these varies from policy to policy). If you are unsure if a pre-existing medical condition or any activity you engage in whilst on holiday is covered or not then contact the insurance company for more details, and a new quote if necessary. If one company does not cover a pre-existing medical condition or activity then check if another one does.

You should know what your policy covers and what it does not in order to make sure that it fits your’s, and your family’s, needs and requirements. The cover should be in place from the moment you set off on your holiday to the second that you return. You should also be covered for Medical and Health, including 24 hour emergency service and assistance, personal liability, cancellation and curtailment, and possessions.

When you travel you need to make sure that you carry the policy with you along with the emergency contact number. You may be required to call the insurance company before seeking medical help so ensure you know whether you have to do this or not beforehand. If you are required to pay for any treatment that you can claim back off your insurance then ensure that you keep all receipts and reference numbers. The same applies to claiming for thefts and robberies. You will be required to inform the local police who will give you an incident number which relates to your case and which the insurance company will need to deal with any claims.

If I want to gain financial freedom way before retirement age or latest at the age of retirement, I need to accumulate enough wealth to achieve the lifestyle that I want. This requires planning as gathered from the Rich Dad’s series by Robert Kiyosaki. If I want to be cautious, I feel that I should have two plans.

The first plan is to plan for retirement. The second plan is to plan to retire way before the age of retirement. This is because in case the second plan fails, I still have the first plan to fall back to. In the worst scenario, I will gain financial freedom at the retirement age.

In order to implement the first plan, I need to embark on the journey to research on retirement planning. After studying and reading a lot on retirement planning, I realize that retirement planning should be done as early as possible in my life. Why?

Firstly, I can capitalize more on the compounding interest of investment return. If I invest early in my life, then my investment has more time to grow. This advantage is gone if I have only invested near my retirement age.

For example, let assume the rate of investment return is 5 percent per annum and my retirement age is 60 years old. If I invest at the age of 30 years old, then my investment has 30 years to grow at the compounding interest rate of 5 percent per annum. If I have invested at the age of 55 years old, then my investment has only 5 years to grow at the compounding interest rate of 5 percent per annum. Of course, I will gain more if I have invested at the age of 30 years old.

Secondly, I can afford to make mistakes in my investment and recover from my mistakes. When I learn to invest initially, I will definitely make mistakes here and there. Because I start to learn to invest at a younger age, I have more time to learn and recover from my mistakes. Learning form mistakes is the key to accumulate wealth based on my understanding of the Rich Dad’s series by Robert Kiyosaki.

For example, if I have made a mistake in investment that result in a loss of $10,000 at the age of 30 years old, I still can earn back the money. But if I have made the same mistake at the age of 60 years, I may not be employable to earn back the lost amount.

Even if I decide to hire a financial planner to help me, it is still my responsibility to know enough about investment so that I do not hire the wrong guy. This knowledge cannot be gained through purely reading. Some kind of practical experience is required to understand more about investments to enable one to decide on the proposed solution given by the financial planner.

Thirdly, I can be more aggressive in my investment. That is I can put my money into more risky investments. More risks usually mean better return on investment. But that may not be always true. If I can manage the risks well, I can get better return on risky investment.

For example, I can invest in currency. That is provided that I know how to manage the high risks in currency investment. Even if I have all the necessary risk management in place, there is still a possibility that the investment still goes wrong due to unforeseen circumstances. In which case, I have time to recover from the loss.

Then, I can invest in long-term investments. This is not possible if I invest near retirement age. At near retirement age, I should only be investing in assets that give me cash or near cash, as I will need the money to support my retirement lifestyle. In fact, most of my investments should be converted to the type that can give me regular income near my retirement age.

For example, it maybe impractical for me to invest in a property and hoping that it will appreciate. A property may take quite a number of years to appreciate to a substantial amount. In other words, I should not be looking for investments that give capital appreciation. I should be focusing on investments that give me regular income such as annuity.

Even though that it is good to plan for retirement early, it is important that I have addressed the more urgent needs first. I should have already planned and insured properly so that I will not face a financial disaster due any unexpected accidents or illness or any other events. Also, I should have already set aside an emergency fund equivalent to 3 to 6 months of monthly expenditure. In this way, I should be able to survive till my retirement age to see the fruits of my retirement plan.

In other words, the whole basis of your life is a “hand-me-down.” You are doing what you are doing because you were told to. You never stopped to see whether what was taught to you was true or not.

The only fact you have of yourself is that you are. All the rest is chewing gum, sellotape, number-8-wire and blue-tack. You do not get the time to investigate because you are too busy with trying to clothe, feed and shelter who you think you are and your family.

Even if you did have “free time” you would not know what to do with yourself. There is no shortage of distraction to keep you occupied, to keep you from investigating just who it is that you truly are. No matter what you manage to “attain” for yourself it finally turns to custard.

No matter how many times you “fall in love” you manage to “fall out of love” again. None of your experiences can hold you in elation for very long. The elation always wears off leaving you with the unfulfillment that you have forever attempted to avoid feeling.

You are not who you think you are and who you have been taught to be. Who you are is the very “aliveness” that you can never escape from because it is who you are – right now. It is flowing through your eyes right now.

I was at a business meeting recently with a group of highly successful managers. When I say ‘highly successful’ I mean they were considered so by the organisations they worked for.

But when I looked around I saw a bunch of stressed-out, sickly, over- or underweight wrecks! These high flyers were all headed for the scrap heap or the grave in the not too distant future.

At this point I realised that the ‘Work/Life Balance’ cliche, while not providing all the answers, certainly has something in it worth exploring. The main problem I have with the ‘WLB’ model is that it implies working is not living! I prefer to think of a ‘Balanced Life’.

This is not a new notion, of course. I expect you have seen variations on the ‘Wheel of Life’ concept. If you have not come across this, it is easy to explain:

Draw a big circle and divide it into segments representing aspects of your life. For example, I might use FAMILY, HEALTH, CAREER, LEISURE, FINANCES, PERSONAL PERFORMANCE and SELF DEVELOPMENT. This gives me seven segments.

Now imagine your segments are scored from 0 – 10 from the centre out to the perimeter of your circle. Score each aspect of your life and place a dot in the appropriate segment. Join the dots with a wavy line and you have a picture of your life and how well each aspect is working. Where the line nears the perimeter, you are doing well; where it approaches the centre, you need to look at ways to improve.

The difficulty faced by the managers I began this piece talking about, and indeed most of us I suspect, is the pressure involved in building a career. These people could not find the time or the energy to take care of the family segment. Leisure was practically unknown to them; even on holiday, they were worrying about business matters – to the extent, in some cases, of remaining in contact daily no matter how remote their holiday venue. And all the other segments suffered similarly.

I don’t want to sound like some kind of evangelist, but consider some words from the Christian Bible: ‘What shall it profit a man if he gain the whole world yet lose his own soul?’ There’s the dilemma.

The answer? That’s for you to decide.

It’s OK to live the way YOU want to. Some people need to be told that. Some think it is OK to live your life on someone else’s terms. I’m here to let you know that it’s just not true. And it’s definitely OK to do business the way YOU want to, not the way everyone else says you should.

You can choose what level of product or service to market. If you don’t like to do it, don’t offer it. I’m not talking about any aspect of marketing here. You have to have active marketing if you like it or not. But if you don’t want to perform a task that’s related to your main service or product, don’t to it. Even if your customer asks for it. Instead you can refer them to a business associate that you might get a referral fee from and you don’t have to do it.

And speaking of your customer, it is OK to fire a troublesome or demanding customer. If someone is taking up way too much of your time to the point that it takes away from your other customers, you’ve got a problem. For the good of all of your other customers, it would be a wise move to stop doing business with any problem customer. Imagine a business where you only served select customers. Selected not by race or religion but by how much you liked having them as a customer.

Doing business on your terms is truly OK. If an auto mechanic doesn’t want to work on transmissions, he sends it out to his friend that will do the job. The mechanic is doing business on his terms. He could have fixed his customer’s transmission but he didn’t want to have to do it. It works the same way for you, no matter what service or product line you market.

As a home business owner, you could decide to exclude offers that require your personal time or presence. Can you think of how much you would get done if you limited access to yourself for everyone but your most favorite or profitable customers? Business is about making cash and building a business. And you can just as easily do it on your terms as doing it “the usual way”.

Do you live in a major city with all the people and the traffic? You know you don’t have to, right? Do you participate in the same activities as most other people in your part of the world? You don’t have to if you don’t want to. And you don’t have to run your home business like you don’t want to.

You can start living your life on your terms. If not right away, you can set up a plan and execute that plan so you can go from living and doing business by everyone else’s rules to living like YOU want and doing business the way that suits you best.

There are those days when we sigh out loud at the thought of living the easy life when we retire. But planning our retirement just might consist of more work than we expect, especially if we plan to retire with our significant other.

You and your soul mate might have very different plans, like at what age should we retire or even what activities to participate in. Being since you will spend significantly more time with your spouse during retirement, you should definitely discuss these potential problems sooner rather than later. Although, for most of us that seems like planning a bit too far in advance.

Here are some issues that should be addressed with your spouse before retirement:

Time To Retire. More often than not, couples tend to retire at the same age. It is, after all, nice to have some company when you travel. According to Alicia Munnell, director of the Center for Retirement Research at Boston College, joint retirement can create some financial problems for women. The average woman is three years younger than her husband, and, in general, women tend to outlive men.

A little under 59% of all women start receiving social security at the age of 62 (the number for men is 53%). When benefits are taken at age 62, monthly payments are permanently reduced. If you could wait until the full retirement age (which can range from 65 – 67), the size of your monthly payments increase significantly. Also, women that work longer accumulate more in their 401(K) plans, which for the most part are smaller than their male counterparts.

Retirement Destinations. According to consulting firm McKinley & Co., more than 90% of current retirees remain in their existing homes.

An increase in housing appreciation has led many baby boomers to use their home equity as a source of income during retirement. In a recent survey, a reverse mortgage lender found that 26% of males were likely to sell their homes in retirement, but only 15% of women stated they were inclined to move.

A solution to that discrepancy is to buy or rent a second home in the community where one spouse wants to move, then live there part of the year. However, sometimes married couples do agree on moving, but disagree on where to move. Start researching retirement destinations years before you plan to stop working so that all options are exhausted (in a sense) and an agreement can be made.

What To Do. About 80% of baby boomers plan to work part-time during retirement. Since retirement plans for most baby boomers have been somewhat lacking, that option for extra income is a wise choice. However, working will conflict with certain activities such as traveling. If you want to take a road trip, and your spouse is working, there might not be any flexibility for them to join you.

Also, it is a good idea to personally write down retirement goals, making an “intentions list” so you and your spouse can compare notes, find commonalities and work out the kinks in the process. Even if you and your spouse cannot agree on a time or place for retirement, there should at the very least be mutual goals for saving as much as possible for that well deserved retirement.

You might not pay $16,000 for a bottle of 1978 Romanee Conti in a London restaurant and hang around with Rolling stones bad boys Keith Richards and Ron Wood, but you can spend a week or two living like Johnny Depp in a French Chateau.

He spends six months of the year when not filming living happily in a village in France with his wife Vanessa Paradis former Chanel girl and their two children, Lily-Rose and Jack.

“I love America — I love going back, seeing my family and friends — but it’s wonderful to get back to France and be living in a tiny village with nothing around. There is still the possibility to live a simple life. You can go to the market, walk about, buy fruits and vegetables — the things they did 100 and 200 years ago. We have moments when we’re sitting in our house and our kids are playing, and we look at one another and think, ‘Thank God we escaped.’ “

“Each morning, I can go to the little village not far from my chateau, have a cup off copy, sit there with my girl and not worry about the paparazzi,” he told reporters in 2001.

Depp fell in love with France while shooting the Ninth Gate here in 1998. Today, locals often spot him picnicking with his family, shopping for vegetables at the market and riding around the countryside on his Harley-Davidson motorcycle.

Neighbours say “He’s someone who will join us old men for a friendly game of Boules on a Sunday afternoon then have a drink at the bar,” He, Paradis and their two kids generally go marketing on Thursday mornings and can be seen on many Sunday mornings wandering around an open-air flea market. It is a very normal family life.

“Johnny often has a little chat with us in French. He’s good, but not fluent yet.”

He says he is shocked by the gun violence in American schools and feels it is far safer raising a family in France. “I want to raise my baby away from all the weirdness.”

Depp is also known for his love of French wines. He recently confessed to having his “Winona Forever” tattoo abbreviated (via laser) to read “Wino Forever.”

He announced to Figaro that Chateau Calon-Segur, a Saint-Estephe third-growth, is his favorite wine. In addition to plugging Calon-Segur as his favourite tipple because it’s both delicious and a great value, he’s admitted to admiring grand estates Petrus and Chateau Cheval-Blanc, in addition to Burgundy’s Domaine de la Romanee-Conti, purveyor of the most expensive wine in the world.

At 40, Depp loves to play loud electric guitar, wears clothes that could use a cleaning, occasionally orders $16,000 bottles of wine in restaurants, and pals around with Rolling Stones bad boys Keith Richards and Ron Wood. He also has a huge collection of guns, (a paparazzi deterent) a habit he got from his father.

The insurance industry believes, most people would change a few things to get lower insurance rates, and assure living a longer happier life. There are many Reserve Associations out there to fully explain what happens when you retire. i will be doing the exact same thing as you in the Navy, going from enlisted to Officer (hopefully). From my research, our points are totalled up when we retire. Whatever they add up to be (3650 points = 10 years) is the base pay we will receive. If you become an officer, you will get 50% of the pay for whatever rank you have when you retire for the amount of time your points would have been had you been on active duty. The great thing about us in the reserves, is that we can continue to drill for no pay but get points until the mandatory retirement age of 60. Doing this for myself, and assuming I do not get chosen to become an officer, is a difference of 600 a month when I finally start getting paid at 62.

Well, if she's 40 and perfectly healthy, it's going to cost her about $500 a month to have a low/no deductible plan that covers checkups.

You BUY it on a month to month basis. If you want low monthly payments, you have to cut the coverage – like take a $10,000 deductible. Or higher. That would cut payments down to maybe $200 a month or less.

The older she is, the less healthy she is, the more it costs.

Your best bet, is to find a local, independent agent, who can help you balance cost with coverage.

control of your life to others. Many of us give up

not until our teens that we begin to question; then we question

learn a new set of rules-staying in the good graces, if not
being popular, among our peers. We enter sports, hobbies, band,
music, dance, and many other activities, each with an adult
teaching us.

Late teens, perhaps early twenties, and we’re now adults,
perhaps even parents ourselves. Are we still looking to others
for the rules of life? Perhaps, and it shouldn’t surprise us,
for now newspapers, magazines, movies, and certainly TV all
bombard us with their views of life, often describing views of
life bearing little resemblance to real life itself. So-called

shows are tightly scripted and managed for optimum viewer

It may be helpful to think of life as a play, someone writes the
script, someone directs the actors, and someone plays the
starring role. Thinking of your life, put names to each of
these: scriptwriter, director, and star. Did you put your name

all three; scriptwriter, director, and star. We are living the
life we scripted, even if we took on the script of someone
else’s life. It was still our decision to do so.

eight, or fifty eight. Life is exciting, a wonderful
adventure-but only when it’s your life.

to day existence, why not start writing a new story? Just for
the fun of it, take out a piece of blank paper and put this at
the top: My New Life Story. But before you start writing
anything, do this. Remember the story of Aladdin’s Lamp? Aladdin
found a magic lamp and when he rubbed it a genie appeared
granting him three wishes. Well, you’ve just found your magic
lamp. Rub it and see the genie appear, granting you the power to
wish anything for your life that you desire.

Now go back to your piece of paper with My New Life Story at the
top, and start writing. Write the next chapter of your life.
Describe the star of your story in great detail. The star is
you. How do you feel? What do you do? Who are you with? Does
this new story excite you? Does it feel more like the real you?
Don’t answer these questions with your head; your heart will
tell you the truth. You’ll know deep inside if what you’ve
written is the right path for you. It may be scary to think
about, but if it feels right then it is right.

At this point, perhaps your initial excitement starts to wane
and you’ve put down your pen in frustration, discouraged and
thinking that this just isn’t practical; it’s unrealistic, just
another day-dream. This is your ego protecting the status quo.
Change is hard, and it can be frightening, but dreams do come
true.

Scientists know that people who visualize their goals in great
detail and with strong emotion, generally achieve those goals.
You, too, can change your life, though not instantly as in the
Aladdin story. Even though it will take some time, energy, and
courage to change, taking control of your life can be very
satisfying in itself. Just knowing that you are in charge,
responsible and accountable for your life can bring new
satisfaction and fulfillment to each day. Life’s difficulties
and challenges can become more manageable, seen more as
temporary obstacles than permanent blocks.

Once you decide to take back control of your life you’ll
probably find yourself picking up books, magazines and internet
sites that provide self improvement advice. Read as much as you
can. Try on suggestions for improvement. If they seem to fit
keep them, if not discard them. Your path of growth is unique,
just as you are unique.

(I’m sure you can remember many times when you felt intense joy…when you felt complete. When things just felt right…very right. When deep down inside you, a part of you said something like: “Yes, this is what I love. This is what I am meant to do.” Well, there’s no reason why you can’t have that feeling all the time.)

You don’t need to remain chained up (or to continue living a lie). You don’t have to allow society or others to dictate the way you should live, the type of work you should pursue, the types of activities you should give priority to, and so on.

No, you don’t have to stay helpless inside that cage…inside those prison walls.

You have a choice.

You can decide, here and now, to break free. To do what you love…and to do it as often as you wish.

Who cares about the past? Leave it behind you. That’s where it belongs.

You can decide to live life to the fullest…starting today.

Remember, it’s “your” life. And you don’t have to give power to anyone (or anything) over it.

(Although others may be well-intentioned when they try to discourage you from pursuing what you love-thinking they know what’s best for you-it is “you”…and not them…who will end up either happy or miserable…in the short-term…and in the long-term. I mean, just imagine what it would be like, if one day, in the future, you looked back and couldn’t help but say, “I wish I had lived my life differently…pursued what I truly love. I wish I didn’t allow others to dictate the course of my life. ‘Cause then I wouldn’t be so miserable today.”)

Usually, group life insurance is a packaged benefit option that gives employees complete coverage. Usually at what time a person works at a company that offers group life insurance, after a cycle of employment has occurred the employer may offer group life insurance to the worker. Some of the plans offered may be group life, yet it depends on the policy offered as to what the benefits will cover.

Group life often includes a master contract. Employees usually take hold of a certificate if the employer offers group life insurance. This is what the employee will show as proof of coverage. This certificate however is not the actual policy, rather proof that you have coverage. Like other types of insurance plans however, the certificate holder will give you the option to choose a beneficiary.

This recipient or beneficiary is the receiver that handles the certificate in the event you pass on.

Some other plans include term life insurance. Term life is more common than the group plans. Group term usually given annually, i.e. the plan is renewed yearly. This plan often entails that the employer pays the majority or all of the fees. Most times this insurance plan is equally factored into one x or two x the yearly salaries.

You have coverage with this plan unless the employee is terminated from the job, or decides to stop working at the company. If the term ends, you lose coverage also.

Some of the policies allow you to choose options. That is you can convert your insurance after quitting a company into a single policy. This means you take over fees, such as premiums. The problem with converting these plans is that you will pay a much steeper fee on premiums than you would if you took out-group life insurance.

If you start work at a company make sure that you understand the group life and life insurance offered to you. The 401K plans is typically offered at many companies. You must agree to allow the employer to deduct a small amount from your weekly paycheck to pay for your coverage. Most times, it is worth the cost.

Many people speak and write about living a harmonious life.  Some of those people offer guidance that amounts to trying to help readers or hearers align their lives to the life of the writer/speaker.  And many readers/hearers actually listen for a specific set of steps that will create harmony in their lives.  I’m not presuming that the way I structure my life will be the way you need to structure your life. What I can offer is some guidance about the kinds of things that often create disharmony in people’s lives and some generalized tips to help you create harmony in your life. 

First, let’s stop and think about what a harmonious life is.  Webster’s dictionary defines the word “harmonious” this way:  (1) having parts combined in a proportionate, orderly or pleasing arrangement: congruous, (2) having similar or conforming feelings, ideas, interests, etc: in accord; (3) having musical tones combined to give a pleasing effect: consonant.  When we think about harmony in music, it is easy to hear and feel the harmony of the notes. Harmonious notes in music produce a pleasing and comfortable sound.  The same is true of living a harmonious life: it produces a sense of pleasure and peace and it is comfortable because it has everything in an appropriate proportion.  A harmonious life will also produce a pleasing connection between beliefs, feelings and interests and the way you live your life. 

My top tips for creating and living a harmonious life are these:

1.    Become very clear and conscious in your own mind about what are your beliefs, feelings, ideas, interests and values. If these are clear and consistent or harmonious, you have made the first and most important step.

2.    Understand and define your priorities in life. What is most important to you? Is it inner peace or helping others or building a secure and comfortable life for your family? 

3.    Align your priorities with your values and interests. If they do not work together to create something pleasing, you have a dissonant chord that will prevent you from living a harmonious life. Your priorities will be easier to honor if they are in harmony with your beliefs and values.

4.    Base your goals on your values and priorities. Most of us are trying to achieve something at most times in our lives.  Setting goals for ourselves that are not consistent with our values and our present priorities, we are not very likely to achieve them.  While your values will remain fairly consistent throughout your life, your priorities will change from time to time.  If your goals are in conflict with your values or your present priorities, you will experience disharmony and you will probably not achieve your goals.

5.    Allocate your time according to your values, interests, priorities and goals. I often work with people who are trying to re-align their lives and their goals but do not reallocate their time in ways that match.  Let’s face it, there are only so many hours in a day!  If your priority and your goal are to spend more time with your family, you need to stop working until 9 pm. 

6.    Focus your energy on your highest priorities and on the achievement of your goals. It is very easy to see some low-priority project you think needs to be done and expend all of your energy trying to get it done to get it off your mind.  But doing this diverts your focus, your time and your energy from the things you have said are most important to you.  If your goal is to build a tree house with your son or daughter this month, working on your golf game needs to wait until next month.

7.    Don’t take on more than you know you can reasonably do without creating exhaustion or stress. Taking on new responsibilities or tasks should be a considered decision. It should be considered in terms of the balance of your life according to your values and your priorities.  If something doesn’t fit, you will probably be more content in your life if you don’t agree to do it.

8.    Cherish the feeling of harmony and peace when you create it. Learn what that peaceful harmony of life feels like.  Enjoy the peace and the feeling that your life is within your control and matches your values and priorities. 

9.    When you feel that your inner harmony is being disrupted, stop and think through your values and present priorities. Re-evaluate and see what needs to stay and what needs to go.

If you will take these steps to think about what you want in life and align both your time and your energy with a focus on values and priorities, you will begin to enjoy the peace of a harmonious life.  You probably noticed, however, that there is no step 10 in this process.  This is because you will be constantly aligning and re-aligning your time, your energy, and your focus when your present priorities change and when your values become clearer and your interests change.  Enjoy the sound of perfect harmony!

I believe you apply for as built permits from the Building Department in the city. Make sure you're in the incorporated portion of the city, otherwise you'll have to go to the County Building Department.

Also, if the bank didn't know that these additions were unpermitted, you wouldn't have an recourse. Most foreclosures are sold as is and requires buyer's diligence. A title insurance policy may or may not disclose unpermitted additions (depends on the wording of the policy). As I recall, a title insurance policy only guarantees that you have marketable title to the property.

Three aspects of life hold your keys to healthy living: Love, Creativity, and Play. The third basic component of a healthy life is an adequate level of physical and mental activity.

Take the time to plan and prepare each day and commit to healthy eating and preparing healthy recipes. Eating healthy and watching your weight are not the only things you need to consider in having a healthy lifestyle. Diet and exercise are integral parts of a healthy lifestyle, it’s true.

But as with any other pill you might be considering adding to your body’s system, use common sense, consult with your doctor, and don’t forget that if you want to live healthy and look fantastic while doing it, you have to eat a balanced diet. Eat well – Set yourself up for success by only buying healthy food and by bringing your lunch if possible to work with you. De-stress with Exercise – Even if it is a brisk walk during lunch or a few minutes of silent meditation and breathing at your desk, simple stress relief can do wonders for all aspects of your life.

In the same way, good foods like fruits and vegetables, proteins in the form of lean meat and nuts will serve your body much better than a diet of highly processed, chemically treated foods that are loaded with sugar. If you forget to put oil in a car engine or top up with Diesel instead of gasoline it will break down eventually, the same principle applies to the human body.

If you don’t really have the time or money for the gym, or prefer to spend your mornings/nights at home, then try an exercise bike or walker, an exercise bike is a convenient machine, as it requires very little space.

It doesn’t matter if you’re a person entering the second half of your life, younger or older, the quality of life and priorities are something you should all be thinking about. Fitness and healthy living cannot be attained without the exercise of one’s will.

By following these few simple suggestions, you can take control of your health and your life. Be aware of how much you enjoy your life, or not.

Take some time to explore insurance plans, policy, stipulations, clauses, premiums, deductibles and so on when searching for home insurance. Use the quote systems online to compare companies, policy, and cost and so on.

You have many options with insurance, so go online and check out the variety of packages and plans. Don’t forget you can get your premiums lowered by agreeing to pay higher deductibles. If you agree to pay $1000 out of your pocket for example, your premiums may go down a certain percentage, depending on the company.

What’s your age now? In some point in your life, have you ever thought of retiring from what you are doing right now? Is the idea of retirement ever occurs to you? Or, are you open to the truth that everything has an end? Well, if you’ve spent your most silent moment pondering about all these things, then you are somehow ready for a retirement.

So what is retirement planning all about? What are and aren’t involved in the retirement planning? There are essentially top ten useful moves to take when preparing for retirement.

Step 1: Finances? Review Everything about It

Reviewing your finances is obviously the most primary thing to do during retirement planning. This is essentially for the reason that if you know where you are or what status in life you belong, you will certainly know where you are heading. Just think about this as your plan for studying.

If you think you have the budget to support your studies, then you know that you can study. So in terms of retirement, it is a rule to set your budget first before you consider an eventual retirement. It may take time though, particularly if you find yourself up to elbows in debt. If this is the case, then it’s clear that you are not yet ready for it.

Step 2: Set Goals and Priorities and Think about Them

When thinking about your future living, you should start setting goals and priorities. It is our goals that motivate us to do something for our own benefit, but it is our actions in fact that bring out the results. In either case, developing goals and priorities in life is very much required.

So to begin, ask yourself as to how you want to spend your time after retiring from work. Where do you want to live? What do you want to do? What about your family? How do they fit into your retirement plans? Knowing the answers to these questions will somehow make you feel ready and comfortable to kick back and continue living. It will help you realize what you need in terms of money and health.

Step 3: Consider and Develop a Healthy Lifestyle

Another perfect thing to do after your retirement is to develop a healthy lifestyle. It is now time to think about your health. After all, you are aging and that means you need to take care much of your health to continue living.

A sense of commitment is also required to maintain a healthy life. Just be active and pay much attention and dedication to your goal of becoming healthier. You will be surprised to wake up one day with the best posture and health possible.

Step 4: Learn About Retirement Plans

As you may know, there are a number of retirement plans available on the market these days. However, not all of these retirement plans may suit your requirements. So to start figuring out which of the available plans is best for you, consider first your employer’s retirement plan. If possible, try to talk to your Human Resource representative about your employer’s retirement plan.

Know whether your employer provides a pension or not. Then ask for a summary description of the plan, as well as an explanation for everything that is involved. Lastly, find out what you can contribute and try to inquire about vesting and the like.

Step 5: Review Your Benefit Statement

So you’ve decided on what plan to take. It is now time to review your benefit statement. So you should communicate and ask for help from the financial institution you are considering, to figure out if the IRA is perfect for you. If you found that you are eligible to open an IRA, then wait for nothing. Open it as soon as you possibly can. Once you have opened it then start contributing to the maximum amount allowed each year.

Step 7: Look at Your Social Security Statement and Review It

It is usual that every year, you will receive a Social Security Statement that stresses a record of your earnings that have been labeled as Social Security taxes paid. This statement generally comes about three months before your birthday. Well, if you receive this statement, review it carefully. Ensure that it presents an estimate of the benefits that you and your family might receive from those earnings.

Step 9: Think About Long Term Care Insurance

Many of those who have considered retirement think about long term care insurance. They consider this option knowing that it will help them support their living. Of course, no one likes to live and being left in a nursing home, which is but a strong possibility when a person gets older. Long term care insurance may also be useful in case you will be affected by a major illness which can possibly wipe out your retirement savings. It is for this reason in fact that long term care insurance is needed.

Step 10: Talk to Your Spouse and Family about Your Retirement Plan

As expected, this would be the last step to take when considering a retirement planning. This is particularly significant knowing that your family can be affected by whatever decision you may make. So if possible, talk to your spouse and family about your retirement plan, and ensure that they understand about your plan and that your plan can help you support them. Just make them aware about it. That’s simply it!

So everything has been said. Well, these above mentioned ideas may not guarantee that you will be ready for that big retirement of yours. But in any case, these will somehow give you an idea on how to prepare. So noting all of these is still worth the effort.

People who don’t know their life purpose often find themselves chasing the dreams of others, or doing what they think others think they should do. This is referred to as an inherited purpose.

Such people live a life based on assumption, presumption, and old programming. These are all distractions from one’s true self; and being distracted results in an unfulfilled life full of co-dependent relationships and unsatisfactory career paths. Essentially this means you’re living according to other people’s values and purpose.

So let me ask you – are you living according to other people’s values and purpose or YOUR OWN???

Next question: What is Your Dharma?

Living your life on purpose allows your personal compass to direct you toward fulfilling your life purpose. When you’re on your intended path, you’re in dharma, which is an old Sanskrit word which Webster’s Dictionary defines as: an individual’s duty fulfilled by observance of custom or law; the basic principles of cosmic or individual existence; conformity to one’s duty and nature.

Your Dharma is what you were born to be.

It’s what your DNA makeup has programmed you to be; and it’s the path of life on which you’ll achieve the greatest degree of happiness, success, and fulfillment, AND where you’ll also have the most impact on humankind.

Dharma is like wearing a pair of comfortable shoes. You feel good in them because they fit you so well. When you’re out of dharma, and you find yourself off your intended path, it’s like wearing a pair of shoes which are too tight, too restricting and uncomfortable; you feel miserable wearing them.

When you’re in dharma, all of your talents and energy emerge and converge to produce positive effects for you and all of those around you. You can’t help but exude qualities of passion, peace, happiness, and fulfillment.

As a result, you’ll naturally practice patience, honesty, compassion, self-control, forgiveness and reason. Likewise, living in your Dharma will also help you let go of unnecessary anger, resentment, judgment, envy, greed and jealousy.

You and everyone around you benefits from your dharma. There may be times when it seems as if you’re going against what others want you to do, but by being in and true to your dharma…

You’re actually creating what’s best for everyone – yourself and others.

Many people live their entire lives without being in dharma or on their intended path. There’s absolutely no joy in this. To live the greatest life you’re capable of living you need to know who you are and where you’re going, As a result, the choices of what to do become much clearer.

So take a moment to think about your dharma shoes – are they comfortable and fit just right or are they too tight or too loose? Live on Purpose and your journey will be a comfortable one.

Then, I joined the guard and received another 164. Total retirement points 1535 for a total 5 "good" years.

However, I also did some correspndence corses which I was told to turn in to the retirement person which shows up on my printout as "ACCP Misc Points" and is added to the "Total Career Points" column–NOT the "Total Points for Retirement Pay" column.

Question–what is the difference between "career points" and "retirement points?" If career points are not calculted for retirement pay, what are they good for?
To the one responder so far–I am sure you know what you are talking about–however, I have no idea what "non-retirement bond" means.

Ok, you are allowed to add up to 90(after 2000 )

(IDT/Membership/ACCP) to your retirement points each year.

Normally you gain 15 membership points each year you are in the Guard.

And four IDT points for each full drill weekend.

Plus you can earn one IDT point for every three credit hours of correspondence courses with a grade of satisfactory or better.

These are your career points.

They are added to your retirement points, to calculate your retirement.

But again, you are only allowed to add 90 Career points per year.

You are not allowed to carry over non allowed career points from one year to the next.

IE: if you earned 110 career points in 2007, you would only be allowed to count 90 of them for retirement, and the other 20, would not count.

You would not be allowed to shift the 20 to 2008.

Think of career points as Bonus retirement points.

I will possibly be organising events for a large company and they have told me that I am required to take out Public & Products Liability insurance and Personal Accident cover before I can start working on any of their events. Start a Roth IRA for two simple reasons. If you absolutely need to, you can withdraw your contributions tax-free and penalty-free. Just don't touch the earnings.

And, the earnings accumulate tax-free until retirement provided you follow the tax rules. Since you're starting early, most of the accumulation in your Roth IRA will be from earnings by the time you retire. Everything you withdraw in retirement will be tax-free.
